Pune Has Recorded Lowest COVID Infection Rate In The Last Six Months

Pune, 12th August 2021: The lowest infection rate of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) in the last six months has been recorded in the first week of August. So, the first week of August has been comforting for Pune.

However, Puneites now face the challenge of maintaining this reduction in infection rates as all restrictions in the city have been lifted since Monday.

56,057 corona tests were conducted in the city from August 2 to 8. Of these, 1481 patients were diagnosed with the Corona infection. As a result, the city recorded a 2.64 per cent infection rate. This has been seen to be the lowest infection rate in the last six months.

From July 26 to August 1, the city underwent 48,221 tests, of which 1705 patients were diagnosed with corona. The city recorded a 3.53 per cent infection rate at that time. The decline in the rate by one per cent from August 2 to 8 is making it clear that the picture of Corona infection in the city is changing positively.

The state’s first corona patient was reported in Pune city in March 2020. After that, Pune continued to be at the centre of India’s corona infection along with Maharashtra. The intensity of the second wave started to subside from May. However, for the first time in six months, the infection rate in the city has been found to have come down to below three per cent.
