Pune HCMTR Project: Officials Inspect 43.6-km Corridor, Review Traffic Planning
Pune, 18th August 2026: Pune civic and police officials on Tuesday inspected the proposed alignment of the High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) project and reviewed traffic planning, land acquisition and connectivity with major roads.
The inspection was conducted in the presence of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Additional Municipal Commissioner Pavniet Kaur and Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil. The officials inspected the proposed HCMTR corridor between Solapur Road and Sadanand Saptarshi (Saspras) Chowk.
The proposed HCMTR corridor is approximately 43.60 km long. During the inspection, officials reviewed technical and traffic-related issues along the alignment, the current status of land acquisition, traffic management at major junctions and the proposed connectivity of the HCMTR corridor with important roads through ramps.
Officials were directed to plan the project in a manner that allows existing roads available at ground level to be developed and appropriately utilised wherever technically feasible, despite the HCMTR corridor being primarily elevated.
The officials also discussed coordination with the Metro, flyover and traffic departments during the implementation of the HCMTR project. The meeting emphasised the need to anticipate potential traffic-related issues arising from multiple infrastructure projects and incorporate them into future planning.
PMC Chief Engineer (Projects) Dinkar Gojare, Chief Engineer (Roads) Rajesh Bankar, and officials from the construction and land acquisition departments were present during the inspection.
