Hinjawadi, 27th May 2025: A narrow stretch of road near Sunbeam Infotech Pvt Ltd in Hinjawadi has become a daily ordeal for thousands of commuters, with traffic congestion turning unbearable along the Phase 3 to Phase 1 route. The situation, which has persisted for several months, shows little sign of improvement despite repeated public complaints and widespread frustration.

The bottleneck, caused by prolonged roadwork and simultaneous metro construction, has effectively choked the vital corridor that connects Hinjawadi Phase 2 to Phase 1. During peak hours, the stretch is almost impassable, leading to long delays, missed appointments, and rising tempers.

“This is not just traffic anymore—it’s a complete breakdown of urban management,” said one exasperated commuter who spends over an hour daily just to cross the short stretch.

The ongoing construction work has made little visible progress for months. Adding to the chaos is the metro development project, which, while necessary in the long term, is compounding the current crisis. With no alternate routes being developed or traffic mitigation measures in place, the road has become one of Pune’s most notorious chokepoints.

Despite numerous complaints from commuters, tech employees, and local businesses, no substantial intervention has been made by either the local municipal bodies or state authorities. What was once an inconvenience has now escalated into a crisis affecting productivity, safety, and quality of life.

Residents and professionals working in Hinjawadi’s IT hub are calling for immediate action. They are demanding better traffic management, faster completion of construction, and accountability from those responsible for planning and oversight.

The lack of urgency from the authorities has turned this stretch into more than just a traffic hotspot—it’s become a symbol of civic apathy in one of Pune’s most important economic zones.
