Wagholi, 19th April 2024: A hoarding collapsed in the Sai Satyam Park area of Wagholi, Pune, during rain and strong winds on Wednesday (17th) evening. The collapse resulted in damage to three to four cars and caused a traffic jam on the Pune city highway for several hours. No one was injured in the incident.

The hoarding was official, but it collapsed due to weakness. The incident also led to the breaking of unauthorized signboards in various places across Wagholi, causing damage to several vehicles.

Citizens are raising concerns about the structural integrity of hoardings in the area, especially with the onset of the rainy season. They are calling for an immediate structural audit of the many hoardings in Wagholi.

In response, the Nagar Road Ward Office of PMC has issued a notice to the owner of the hoarding and is seeking an explanation. Further action will be taken based on the owner’s response, according to Somnath Bankar, Regional Officer of Nagar Road.
