Pune, 13th February 2023: A man was brutally beaten by a hotel owner and three waiters with sticks and iron rods until he fell unconscious at Vasuli Phata in the Khed area, police said on Sunday.

The victim, Bhaskar Walke (35), had gone to the hotel on the night of 10th February with his friend Adinath for dinner when he had a minor dispute with a waiter over their services.

According to the police, the duo paid the bill and left the hotel after dinner. While Adinath went away, Walke was still outside the hotel when hotel owner Ganesh and three waiters came out and started assaulting him. Later, the foursome took him to the second floor and shut him inside the room.

Walke said that the hotel’s proprietor gave the servers orders to inject him with narcotics and throw him off the second floor. The owner threatened to file a bogus report of extortion against him.

The hotel owner instructed the staff to toss him outdoors when he passed out. When Walke later came to, he called his brother, who then checked him into the hospital. Walke claimed that the assault left him with numerous wounds. On 11th February, after receiving treatment, he reported his condition to the Mahlunge police station.

A case has been filed under section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (willful infliction of harm). However, further investigation is on and no arrests have been made yet.
