Pune: Housing Society Chairman, Others Booked After Four-Year-Old Dies as Iron Slide Falls On Her Head in Play Area in Hadapsar
Hadapsar, 23rd April 2026: A four-and-a-half-year-old girl died after an iron slide installed in a housing society playground allegedly fell on her head in Magarpatta area of Hadapsar. Hadapsar Police have registered a case against the society’s chairman and other office-bearers for alleged negligence.
The deceased has been identified as Anika Navnath Devikar (4). Her father, Navnath Pandurang Devikar (34), a resident of Ved Vihar Society near Noble Hospital in Magarpatta, lodged a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station in the matter.
According to police, the incident took place around 12.30 pm on April 7 when Anika was playing in the society premises. Play equipment for children had been installed in the compound, and an iron slide reportedly collapsed onto the child’s head.
She sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed unconscious to a private hospital, where she later died during treatment.
In his complaint, the girl’s father alleged that the slide had not been installed properly and posed a safety risk. He claimed he had repeatedly informed the society office-bearers and asked them to remove it, but no action was taken.
Based on the complaint, police have booked the society chairman and other office-bearers. Assistant Police Inspector Sane is conducting further investigation.
