Pune, 19th August 2022: The Central Government’s new labour law policy has put the protection of workers at risk. If this law comes into effect in Maharashtra in the coming month of January, no worker or employee will get a permanent job. Also, many workers will lose their jobs. This rule is not only limited to these workers but will further affect other private and government sectors as well.

As a result, the basic rights of workers will also be taken away. Therefore, Yashwantbhau Bhosale, President of the National Labor Alliance, has demanded that the Maharashtra State Government and the opposition party should not implement this labour law in the state, keeping in mind the effectiveness of this law.

Bhosale has been on a hunger strike for the last 10 days at the Labor Commissioner’s Office, Pune. Many trade unions across the state have supported their labour struggle. Meanwhile, Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav and State Labor Minister Suresh Khade took notice of the hunger strike. However, the hunger strike continues today (August 19) on the tenth day as no concrete assurance has been received.

Speaking to the media today, Bhosale said, “If the new labour laws come into effect in Maharashtra in January 2023, it will affect millions of youths who are out for labour and jobs across the state. Labour is the main consumer in the market. If there is no money left in their hands, India will be like Sri Lanka. The State Government should take note of the effect of this Act.”

Bhosale expressed hope that this law should be discussed in the assembly session and at least the opposition should raise questions about it.

Also, 270 workers who were fired during the Corona period will not be reinstated. Bhosale clarified that he will continue his hunger strike until action is taken against the nine company owners who defied the order of the High Court.
