Bhosari, 6th December 2023: An assistant health officer was allegedly slapped after issuing a notice for rude behaviour. The incident occurred around noon on Tuesday at the E Ward Office, leading to the registration of a case against three individuals, including the husband of a former corporator.

Rajesh Nandalal Bhatt, a 54-year-old resident of Thergaon and the Assistant Medical Officer at the E Ward Office of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), filed a complaint at the Bhosari police station. The case has been registered against Shankar Muralidhar Sonawane (32), resident of Bopkhel Gaothan, Santosh Landge (45) and an unidentified person.

According to the police, Bhatt had issued a notice to Sonawane for unauthorized absence and rude behaviour. In response, Sonawane allegedly gathered accomplices and verbally abused Bhatt. The situation escalated, and Bhatt was reportedly physically assaulted, with one of the individuals slapping him.

The assailants then allegedly dragged Bhatt to his office, where Sonawane reportedly threatened to commit suicide in Bhatt’s name, potentially jeopardizing his job. The complaint suggests that the accused obstructed Bhatt while he was carrying out official government duties. Landge, one of the individuals involved, is identified as the husband of former BJP corporator Sarika Landge.
