Chikhali, 6th December 2023: In a swift response to a fire incident, the Fire Brigade Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), along with residents, successfully extinguished a blaze that erupted in the waste pipe system of the Emezeka Park Society in Jadhavwadi, Chikhali. The timely intervention prevented any loss of life, and the collaborative efforts of the fire brigade and citizens ensured the safety of all residents.

At approximately 2:57 PM, the Municipal Corporation’s Fire Department received a report of a fire at Emezeka Park, Jadhavwadi, Chikhali. The fire, originating in the garbage chute system of the building, quickly spread from the tenth floor to the ground floor, causing panic among the residents.

Upon receiving the information, the fire brigade promptly reached the spot with a comprehensive response team. The fire, which had engulfed the garbage chute system, led to flames spreading through the open ducts, triggering fear among the building’s occupants. Residents quickly evacuated, moving to the ground floor to ensure their safety.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. However, the intensity of the flames caused cracks in the plaster of Paris (POP) on the building’s walls. The first assessment by the fire brigade suggested a possible short circuit on the tenth floor as the cause of the fire.

Residents joined forces with the fire brigade, attempting to suppress the fire by utilizing the building’s fire safety system. Their collective efforts played a crucial role in containing the situation and preventing further escalation. The fire brigade ensured that the fire was completely extinguished, and thorough checks were conducted to confirm the safety of the building and its residents.

A significant firefighting force was mobilized for the operation, including personnel and specialized vehicles. One unit each from Chikhali Sub Fire Station, Moshi Sub Fire Station, Pimpri Main Fire Station, Talawade Sub Fire Station, a Fire Brigade Vehicle, a Hydraulic Platform Branto Vehicle, and a Devadoo Fire Fighting Vehicle were on the scene. A total of 32 fire personnel worked diligently to bring the fire under control.
