Pune: IMD Forecasts Cloudy Skies, Light to Moderate Rain for Pune; Heavy Showers Expected in Ghat Areas
Pune, 2nd September 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a spell of cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall over Pune and its neighbourhood through the week, with heavier showers likely in the adjoining ghat regions.
According to IMD’s local forecast issued on Tuesday, the city and surrounding areas, including Lohegaon, Chinchwad, Magarpatta, Lavale, Koregaon Park, NDA, and Pashan, will experience very light to moderate rainfall until September 8. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 26°C and 29°C, while minimum temperatures will range from 20°C to 24°C.
Forecast Highlights
September 2–3: Cloudy skies with very light to light rain likely. Heavy to very heavy showers are possible at isolated places in the ghat areas.
September 4–6: Light to moderate rainfall expected across Pune, with higher intensity showers forecast in the ghats.
September 7–8: Cloudy conditions will persist, accompanied by light rainfall. Maximum temperatures may reach 30°C in some parts of Pune.
The IMD has advised commuters and residents in Pune to remain alert, particularly those travelling through ghat sections where localized heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging, slippery roads, and reduced visibility.
