Pune: Indian Air Force Officer Arrested By CBI For Demanding Bribe

Pune, 17th November 2021: The anti-corruption bureau of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a civilian gazetted officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF) for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for processing the transfer request of housekeeping staff.

The accused has been identified as Suryakanat Sangle, Civilian Gazetted Officer (CGO), Indian Air Force, 2 Wing, Lohegaon, Pune.

According to CBI FIR, the housekeeping posted with the IAF in Lohegaon resides in Nigdi. He had applied for his mutual transfer from IAF Lohegaon, Pune to Station HQ, Dehu Road, Pune.

During verification of the complaint by CBI, the complainant sought 2-3 days time as he had only Rs 3-4 thousand with him but Sangle instructed to deliver the amount the same day itself.

Accordingly, an FIR has been registered against Sangle for offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Police Inspector (CBI) Girish Soni is further investigating the case.
