March 29, 2023, Pune: Indira IVF, India’s largest chain of infertility treatment hospitals, has inaugurated its new centre in the city’s Pimpri-Chinchwad locality. The organisation has its presence in Pune now in two locations, with the hub centre in Viman Nagar, and the new addition, an OPD, to increase accessibility to couples in the city.
With this, the organisation renowned for its high success rate, patient centricity and technologically-driven treatments, inaugurated its 19th centre in Maharashtra which is also the 116th centre in India. Indira IVF has helped over a lakh couples to conceive in the past decade, of which 19,000 couples have been treated in Pune. It has invested in a number of technologies, including artificial intelligence in collaboration with Life Whisperer to assure couples around the country and in Maharashtra of evidence-based treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nitiz Murdia – Managing Director and Co-Founder of Indira IVF said, “We are pleased to make our latest addition in Pune with our OPD in Pimpri-Chinchwad to provide assistance to couples looking to start a family. As per statistics, 10-15% of Indian couples struggle with infertility; Indira IVF’s mission has been to help such couples by eradicating the misinformation associated with it and disseminating correct information We understand how childlessness can affect a couple’s mental health and are thus, committed to provide solutions under one roof.”

“The latest National Family Health Survey has found that the total fertility rate (TFR) in India has dropped below the replacement level of 2 children per woman for the first time. In Maharashtra, the TFR has dropped to 1.7 in 2019-20 from 1.9 in 2015-16 and in fact, in urban areas, this number is down to 1.5.This can be traced to increased number of people with hypertension, high blood sugar levels, and persons with anaemia in the state. This can pose a hindrance to one’s aspirations to become a parent,” he added.

Speaking about the burden of infertility in the region, Dr Amol Lunkad of Indira IVF Pune said, “It has been found that one out of six couples find it difficult to have children. It is important to understand that infertility can be due to constitutive conditions in men or women, and in some cases, both. Assisted reproductive technology provides bespoke solutions to both men and women, supporting them throughout on their journey to parenthood.”
Elaborating on the IVF process, Dr Ishita Lunkad of Indira IVF Pimpri-Chinchwad said, “The couple is counselled about the various options and results before beginning IVF treatment. Following that, both parties are tested to determine the cause of infertility and design a treatment strategy. Ovarian stimulation, oocyte collection, semen collection, fertilisation, embryo visualisation, embryo transfer, and finally a pregnancy test are all important steps which are followed during the IVF process.”

Armed with state-of-the-art infrastructure, Indira IVF handholds countless couples helping them navigate the often-complicated journey of infertility and ultimately realise their dream of starting a family altogether. Simultaneously, it also provides counselling and offers facilities for egg and sperm freezing, a boon for several young men and women who choose to delay family planning until they are in their early forties. Thus far, Indira IVF has helped over 100,000 couples with a successful pregnancy throughout its 116 centres.
