Pune: Industrialist Among 8 Booked For Harassing Woman For Dowry

Aundh, 1st July 2021: A case has been registered against eight persons, including an industrialist and his three family members, for allegedly torturing his wife for dowry.

 

Due to violent physical abuse, the accused’s wife has lost hearing in an ear and has suffered injuries inflicted with cigarette butts. Pune police have booked the accused of domestic violence, serious assault, intimidation and cheating.
Based on a complaint from the victim, Chatuhshrungi police station has registered an FIR against her husband Ganesh Nanasaheb Gaikwad (36), father-in-law Nanasaheb Shankarrao Gaikwad, mother-in-law Nanda Nanasaheb Gaikwad, and Deepali Virendra Pawar, Bhagirathi Patil, all residents of Aundh in Pune. The police have also filed the FIR against Sonali Deepak Gaware, and Deepak Nivruti Gaware, both residents of JM Road in Pune, and Raju Ankush, a native of Shrirampur in Ahmednagar district, who resides in Sangvi. Police said that they have not made any arrests in the case yet.

 

According to the police, the complainant got married to industrialist Ganesh Gaikwad in 2017. “Since then, he has been harassing her for jewellery and dowry. Gaikwad hid the silver utensils and devotional items she received during her marriage along with her passport, degree certificate, PAN Card and other important documents at a farmhouse in Sus Gaon. She has even lost hearing from her right ear due to her husband’s violent behaviour and abuse,” the police said citing the victim’s statement.

 

The Gaikwad family is a reputed family residing in the Aundh area and has many businesses. Ganesh alias Kedar used to harass his wife after drinking alcohol. She also suffered injuries inflicted using cigarette butts. She has been mentally harassed for saying I don’t need you, the FIR states.
