Pune: Inmate At Yerwada Central Jail Cheats Authorities Of Over Rs 26 Lakh By Tampering With Money Order Register

Pune 23rd Sept 2023: The jail authorities of Yerwada Central Jail have lodged a case against a rape convict for allegedly tampering a money order register of the jail by making fraud entries in the name of inmates. The incident came to light after the details were revealed in a recent audit of the accounts conducted.
The rape convict identified as Sachin Fulsundar has been booked in the case and the misappropriation of funds worth Rs 26 Lakh has been revealed. It has been revealed that the inmate visited jail workshop on multiple occasions between 2021 and 2023. He accessed the money order register that recorded the money received by jail inmates through money orders by their family members and made false entries by using fake signatures.
The alleged fraud of Rs 26,69,911 has been revealed in the matter. According to officials, Fulsundar was booked for rape and murder case in 2006 and he was convicted in the matter. The jail authorities have now lodged a case against the inmate under section 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 477-a of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Further investigation in the matter is underway.
