Pune: Inquiry Committee Formed to Investigate Accident Near Swami Narayan Temple

Pune, 23rd April 2023: Following today’s accident near Swami Narayan Temple, the District Collector has ordered the formation of an inquiry committee to study the incident and suggest measures to reduce accidents.
The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, and will include members from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Public Works Department (PWD), and Regional Transport Office (RTO). The committee has been given a deadline of seven days to submit their report.
In a statement, Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, who ordered the committee’s formation, said that a review had already been conducted by the Road Safety Committee regarding accidents near Navale Bridge. Measures, including installing strips, removing encroachments, and increasing police force, had been taken on the basis of a report by the Save Life Foundation. The NHAI has also been instructed to take permanent measures.
Dr. Deshmukh visited the injured in Sassoon Hospital. Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, has inquired about their condition and instructed concerned hospitals to provide necessary treatment.
