Katraj, 10th April 2023: A mishap occurred at Katraj Chowk on the Katraj-Kondhwa road while construction work was being carried out on a new flyover. The iron framework that had been erected for the pillars of the flyover collapsed. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident as no one was around at the time, thus averting a major accident.

Currently, the work of erecting twenty pillars for the flyover is underway, and almost all of the pillar work has been completed by pouring cement concrete. The work on pillar number thirteen began recently. While constructing the iron skeleton for this pillar, it lost balance and collapsed.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is responsible for the construction of the planned flyover from Wonder City to Maulinagar Chowk on Katraj-Kondhwa road. One of the pillars for this flyover has been erected on the premises of the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Museum in Katraj.

The incident has raised concerns among citizens about the quality of work being carried out, and they have called for the work to be of the highest quality to avoid any future mishaps.

In response to the incident, Salim Shaikh, the Branch Engineer of the NHAI, stated that the iron framework had tilted to one side due to high wind speeds during construction. He further added that this would not create any serious problem and that everything would be fine soon.
