Pune: IT Company Woman Employee Raped By Cab Driver, FIR Registered

Hadapsar, 11th April 2021: A woman working in an IT company was allegedly raped by a cab driver also who clicked her nude photos after giving her water laced with sedatives. Later, the accused raped her repeatedly after threatening to circulate the photos on social media.

The 32-year-old woman, a resident of Kharadi, recently lodged a complaint with the Mundhwa police station. Later, the case was transferred to Hadapsar police station for further investigation. Police have booked cab driver Pramod Babu Kanojia of Karvenagar. The incident took place between March 4 and 30 at a lodge in Dhayari area.

According to the police, on March 4, the woman had booked a cab for going to a get-together with friends after work. After dropping her, the accused sent her a message and requested her to call him to drop her back as there is not enough business nowadays.

Police officials said that she called him to drop her home. While traveling in the cab, she asked for water and the accused gave her a water bottle. After drinking the water, she became unconscious. She woke up at Gokul Lodge at Dhayari. The accused had raped her and also clicked her photographs on her mobile phone.

The accused then repeatedly called her in March after threatening to share the photos on social media. He had also sent messages to her husband and friends. She finally lodged a complaint with the police on April 8.
