Pune IT Engineer Dies by Suicide After Jumping from 15th Floor in Amanora Township; Family Dispute Suspected
Hadapsar, 4th August 2026: A 33-year-old IT engineer allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 15th floor of a residential tower in Hadapsar’s Amanora Township around midnight on Saturday. Police suspect that prolonged family disputes and the stress of an ongoing divorce may have driven him to take the extreme step. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
The deceased has been identified as Rahul Vedabhyas Patel (33), a native of Odisha. He was residing as a tenant on the 15th floor of Amanora Gold Tower. The apartment is owned by Mrunal Sonu Kumar. Rahul was employed as an engineer with a Pune-based IT company.
According to Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil of Hadapsar Police Station, Rahul and his wife had been experiencing frequent domestic disputes for the past several days. The disagreements had reportedly intensified, and the couple was in the process of seeking a divorce. Police believe Rahul was under severe mental stress due to the ongoing family issues.
Investigators said Rahul allegedly jumped from the balcony of his apartment around midnight. He sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil and his team rushed to the spot and conducted a panchnama. The body was later sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have informed Rahul’s father, who is travelling from Odisha to Pune.
Digital Lock Delayed Police Entry
Residents of the society rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise around midnight. After identifying the victim, they informed the police that he lived on the 15th floor of the building.
However, the apartment was secured with a digital lock, preventing officers from entering immediately. Police subsequently contacted Rahul’s wife and obtained the access code to unlock the door. After gaining entry, officers began collecting evidence and initiated further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and further inquiry is underway.
