Pune: Jeweller Among Three Arrested In Gold Chain Snatching Case

Vishrantwadi, 26th November 2021: The officials from Vishrantwadi police station under Pune city police have arrested three persons, including a jeweler in connection with the theft of a gold chain of a woman in the Kalas area.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ashok Namdev Gangawane (31), Anil Raghunath Biradwade (32) and Akash Mahadev Sonar. All three are residents of Bandalwadi, Baramati.

Habiba Abdul Shaikh complained about the theft to Vishrantwadi police station. According to the police, the complainant was sitting outside a shop in the Kalas area when the accused came on a two-wheeler and snatched the chain from her neck.

The police checked nearly 150 to 200 CCTV footage and realised that the thieves were in Baramati. After that, a team under the guidance of DCP (Zone 4) Rohidas Pawar, ACP Ramesh Galande, Senior Police Inspector Ajay Chandkhede and Inspector (Crime) Vijaykumar Shinde laid a trap and nabbed the accused persons.

The team included Sub-inspector Lahu Satpute, policemen Vijay Sawant, Dipak Chavan, Yashvant Shirke, Prafull More, Shekhar Kharade, Sandip Devkate, Shivaji Gopnar, Yogesh Changal and special police officer Raj Rathod.
