Pune: Karnataka Alphonso Prices Rise as Konkan Season Ends; Gavran Mangoes Also See Strong Demand
Pune,2nd June 2026: With the Konkan Alphonso mango season drawing to a close, demand for Karnataka Alphonso mangoes has increased significantly in Pune markets, leading to a 20–30 per cent rise in prices. Traders said Pune residents will be able to enjoy Karnataka Alphonso mangoes for another two weeks before the season concludes.
This year, arrivals of Karnataka Alphonso mangoes picked up between April 10 and 15, coinciding with peak arrivals of Konkan Alphonso in the market. The abundant supply of both varieties during that period kept Karnataka Alphonso prices relatively subdued.
However, the market scenario has changed with the end of the Konkan season. While demand for Karnataka Alphonso has risen sharply, arrivals have declined considerably. According to traders, arrivals dropped from around 18,000 boxes last week to nearly 10,000 boxes on Sunday. Each box contains three to five dozen mangoes.
As a result, prices have strengthened, with Karnataka Alphonso mangoes fetching between ₹1,200 and ₹1,600 per box, depending on quality.
Meanwhile, the Gavran mango season has reached its peak. Around 6,000 to 7,000 crates of Gavran mangoes arrived in Pune markets on Sunday. Each crate contains approximately 20 kg of mangoes. While arrivals have increased by nearly 20 per cent compared to the previous week, demand has remained even stronger, resulting in higher prices.
“Demand for Karnataka Alphonso has increased after arrivals of Konkan Alphonso mangoes came to an end. As a result, prices are ruling firm. Arrivals are expected to continue for another 15 days,” said Rohan Ursal, a trader dealing in Karnataka Alphonso mangoes.
Yuvraj Kachi, a trader of Gavran mangoes, said the local mango season is currently at its peak.
“Arrivals of Gavran mangoes have increased by 20 per cent compared to last week. Among the local varieties, Kesar mangoes are arriving in larger quantities than Alphonso,” he said.
Traders expect prices of both Karnataka Alphonso and Gavran mangoes to remain firm in the coming weeks due to steady demand and the limited availability of premium Alphonso mangoes following the end of the Konkan season.
