Undri, 26th June 2026: Lok Sabha MP and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) national working president Supriya Sule has threatened to launch an indefinite protest outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters from July 7 if the civic body fails to shut down ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants operating in the residential areas of Undri. Accusing the PMC of failing to act despite repeated assurances, Sule said residents continue to bear the brunt of pollution, deteriorating roads and safety hazards caused by the plants.

The announcement comes nearly three months after Sule visited Undri in April, when local residents complained about the growing number of RMC plants and their adverse impact on public health and infrastructure. During the visit, Sule spoke to PMC officials from the site and later assured residents that the issue would be resolved before May 1, based on assurances given by civic officers. However, with no action taken so far, she has now decided to intensify the agitation.

In a post on X, Sule said the RMC plants located close to residential neighbourhoods have led to a significant increase in pollution, causing health problems for residents. She also alleged that heavy vehicles transporting material to the plants have severely damaged roads in the area and are driven recklessly, posing a constant threat to commuters.

“Several accidents have occurred in the area and some citizens have even lost their lives. I have been pursuing the closure of these RMC plants for the past several months, but the municipal corporation has only offered assurances. It is extremely shocking that the plants continue to operate despite repeated complaints,” Sule said.

She warned that if the environmentally damaging RMC plants are not shut down by July 7, she will stage a protest along with local residents outside the PMC headquarters from 10.30 am onwards.

Residents of Undri have been demanding action against the RMC plants, alleging that dust pollution, heavy vehicular movement and the operation of industrial units within residential areas have adversely affected their quality of life.
