Pune: Khadak Police Bust Gang Who Looted Pedestrians In City Areas
Shukrawar Peth, 11th April 2022: The sleuths from the Khadak police station, Pune city police, have nabbed four persons including a minor boy who looted pedestrians under the pretext of asking for directions.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rahul Sanjay Sarode (19) of Old Sangvi, Sumit Bhim Suryavanshi (19) and Ankit Sudam Bhalerao (20), both residents of Dapodi.
Acting on a tip-off received by policemen Sandip Talekar and Himmat Holkar, the accused were caught alongwith their minor accomplice near Natubaug Maidan in Shukrawar Peth.
According to police, they had robbed two pedestrians on March 29 on Tilak Road and at Rashtrabhushan Chowk. They looted two mobile phones and Rs 15,450 cash. A case has been registered with Khadak Police Station in this regard.
Senior Police Inspector Shrihari Bahirat, in-charge of the police station, said that a team examined about 70 to 80 government and private CCTV cameras to track down the suspects in connection with the investigation. During the investigation, it was found that the accused were from Old Sangvi and Dapodi. Accordingly, a trap was laid and they were caught. We have recovered valuables worth Rs 65,450 from their possession.
The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Zone 1) Dr Priyanka Narnawre, ACP (Faraskhana division) Satish Govekar. The team included Police Inspector (crime) Harshvardhan Gade, PSI Rahul Khandale and police personnel Aziz Beg, Sandeep Patil, Sandeep Talekar, Ravi Lokhande, Himmat Holkar, Rafiq Nadaf, Rahul More, Vishal Jadhav, Sagar Ghadge, Nitin Jadhav, Praveen Gawhane and Mahesh Pawar.
