Pune: The discovery of an extensive stockpile of expired medicines and injections in the vicinity of Khadakwasla Dam has raised serious concerns within the region. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by the Sharad Pawar group, has issued a demand for a thorough investigation into this matter, urging Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar to take stringent action against those responsible.

NCP’s urban cell president, Nitin Kadam, presented these pressing concerns to Commissioner Vikram Kumar. Previously, the Municipal Corporation had voiced repeated concerns about the release of polluted water into the dam from villages in the Khadakwasla dam area, yet no substantial action had been taken to address this issue.

The recent revelation of a stockpile of expired medicines in the catchment area has created a significant public health issue, impacting the well-being of city residents. The Municipal Administration is urged to treat this matter with seriousness and to initiate measures against those involved in this wrongdoing.

In addition, Kadam emphasized the need for immediate water testing in the dam and all water purification centres. He also called for the deployment of security guards where necessary to ensure the safety and quality of the water supply.
