Bhosari, 20th October 2023: In a swift operation, the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad police arrested two individuals, including a woman, who were allegedly involved in extorting money from a bank manager by claiming to have recorded a conversation and threatening to implicate him in a fabricated case.

The two arrested individuals are identified as Ganesh Laxman Koli, aged 27, residing at Shivajinagar Railway Station Slum in Pune, and his female accomplice. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by a senior manager of a national bank located in the Bhosari area.

The bank manager became a target of extortion when the accused duo demanded a sum of two and a half lakhs, accompanied by threats to broadcast their conversation on social media. The threatening messages included warnings of implicating the manager in a false crime, leading to potential job loss and termination if the ransom was not paid. Succumbing to the initial pressure, the manager paid 25 thousand rupees.

However, as the accused persisted in their demands, seeking an additional two lakhs, the manager decided to take action. He reported the incident to the police. Police authorities, in response, devised a plan. They called the accused to negotiate the ransom of one and a half lakhs and successfully apprehended them in the process.
