Kothrud, 25th November 2025: A group of children from Bhusari Colony stepped in to repair a pothole that had been troubling commuters for days, after repeated complaints to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) failed to draw any response. The episode has renewed concerns about civic inaction and showcased the initiative taken by young residents.

The pothole had developed around a chamber on Lane No. 3, near the Runwal building in Right Bhusari Colony. Locals said people frequently tripped on the uneven surface, and two-wheelers often lost balance while passing over the damaged stretch. Despite filing an online complaint on November 18, they said no repair work was carried out.

With no sign of help from the civic body, four neighbourhood children — Parth Kanojia, Rudra Kad, Rudra Kadam and Samarth Huksale — took it upon themselves to fix the problem. The youngsters gathered cement and water from a nearby construction site and filled the pothole. To ensure the patch set properly, they even placed paver blocks over it to keep vehicles away until it dried.

Residents appreciated the children’s efforts but expressed frustration over the PMC’s lack of response. Many pointed out that citizens regularly pay taxes and yet must resolve basic civic issues on their own. One resident questioned the need for a municipal corporation if people are left to fix such problems themselves.

While the children were applauded for their responsible action, locals said the incident highlights the need for the civic administration to be more responsive, adding that the initiative shown by the youngsters should serve as a wake-up call for officials.
