Pune Kondhwa Rape Case: Accused IT Engineer Released on Notice as Investigation Unfolds Shocking Twist

Kondhwa, 5th July 2025: In the Kondhwa rape case, which initially sent shockwaves across Pune, a surprising turn of events has emerged. The man accused of rape, initially described by the complainant as a delivery boy, has now been identified as an IT engineer known to the woman. The accused has not been taken into custody, but has instead been served a notice by the Kondhwa Police to cooperate with the investigation and appear for questioning as required.
According to the original complaint filed by the woman, also an IT professional, she alleged that the accused sprayed a chemical on her face to render her unconscious before raping her. She claimed she did not know the man and described him as a delivery boy.
However, as the investigation progressed, including scanning footage from over 500 CCTV cameras and questioning 44 flat owners in the area, shocking details came to light. There was no evidence of any chemical being sprayed, contradicting the initial claims.
The accused was initially detained, and both families were informed. However, based on the evolving facts and legal protocol, police issued him a notice, instructing him not to leave Pune, to appear whenever summoned, and to fully cooperate with the investigation. He was then released.
As more details surface, the complainant has revised her statement, saying, “Even if what I said earlier was not accurate, he did try to force himself on me.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and police officials have stated that further action will be based on forensic evidence, witness accounts, and the final medical reports.
