Aundh, 28th February 2023: A 21-year-old pregnant woman and her family were left devastated after the alleged negligence of staff at Pune District Hospital in Aundh led to the loss of their newborn son. The woman was in extreme labor pain and sought medical assistance from the hospital but was referred to Sassoon hospital as they claimed they lacked the resources to handle the pregnancy.

On the way to the hospital, the woman who was seven months pregnant gave birth in the ambulance, but due to the absence of any doctor, nurse, or paramedic staff to handle the emergency, the baby could not survive. The family alleges that the hospital did not equip the ambulance with trained staff to assist them on their way to the hospital during the golden hours.

The family is demanding stern action against those responsible for their tragic loss. Members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party protested at the hospital and demanded that the staff responsible for the unfortunate incident be held accountable.

The hospital has formed a committee to investigate the matter and submit a report in a few days, informed Civil surgeon Nagnath Yempalle, who is also the head of Aundh District Hospital.
