Pune police impose section 144 at Kasba by-election counting venue in Koregaon Park

Pune, 1st March 2023: The counting of votes for the Kasba by-election will take place on Thursday, March 2, at the Food Corporation of India godown on South Main road in Koregaon Park, Pune. To prevent any potential law and order issues, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik has issued preventive orders (section 144), which will remain in effect within a 200-meter radius of the venue until the counting process is completed.

Carrying weapons is strictly prohibited within the counting center area, and individuals with arms licenses are prohibited from carrying arms. The use of mobile phones and cordless phones is also prohibited within the counting center area, except for government officials and employees. Loudspeakers are not allowed to be used by party workers in the counting center area, as per the order.

Writing or pasting any printed material is prohibited in the counting area, and only government vehicles will be allowed to enter the area. Entry to the counting center will only be permitted for individuals with an official permission letter.

After the announcement of the results, the winning candidates are prohibited from taking out victory processions. The order warns of strict action against those who violate the preventive orders. Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik has urged all citizens to cooperate with the authorities to ensure a peaceful counting process.
