Pune Land Records Department Introduces Online Speed Post System For Property Card Notices

Pune, 4th December 2024: In a bid to modernize its processes and enhance efficiency, the Land Records Department has launched a new system to send e-modification notices for property cards via online speed post. This initiative involves linking the department’s computer system with the e-post system, streamlining the process of issuing notices after property card updates.
This innovative facility has been introduced on a pilot basis in City Land Survey Offices No.1 and No.2 in Pune. Once changes are made to property records—whether due to inheritance, purchase, or sale—the department will now send notices directly to the individuals listed on the property card via speed post.
The integration of this online system eliminates the need to manually prepare and post notices, significantly reducing the time and resources required for the process. Additionally, the new system enables tracking of whether notices have been successfully delivered to the concerned parties.
The Land Records Department has been prioritizing the digitization of services, including the issuance of property cards in major cities as a replacement for traditional 7/12 documents. Previously, property transactions often led to lengthy procedures to update records manually, causing delays and requiring citizens to visit offices multiple times.
Through collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the department developed a computerized system to handle property card updates online. Under this system, any changes due to property transactions or inheritance are electronically modified, and the resulting “Specimen 9” notice is sent through the e-post service. These notices are printed at the post office and delivered to recipients via speed post.
This initiative not only saves time but also enhances transparency and accountability. The system ensures that the department is notified if the recipient fails to receive the notice, declines it, or provides an incorrect address, thus maintaining accurate records and streamlining communication.
