Pune Lawyer Alleges Sexually Assault in Moving Car After Pub Visit; Three Detained

Koregaon Park, 18th May 2026: A young woman lawyer has filed a police complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted inside a moving car on the Koregaon Park-Mundhwa Road late Sunday night.
Police have detained three persons in connection with the case, while one more suspect is absconding.
The detained accused have been identified as Abhishek Navnath Mukte, Dhananjay Sorte and Adesh Shinde. Police said efforts are underway to trace the fourth accused.
According to police officials, the complainant is a lawyer originally from Bihar. On Sunday night, she had gone to a pub with a friend. After her friend left the pub, she reportedly came in contact with the main accused.
The accused allegedly offered to drop her home and gained her trust before taking her in a car towards the Mundhwa-Koregaon Park Road.
Police said the accused stopped the vehicle at a deserted spot along the road and allegedly sexually assaulted her inside the car.
Investigators further stated that the accused later contacted his associates over phone on loudspeaker and shared details about the woman, during which objectionable remarks were allegedly made about her.
Police said the woman then insisted that the accused call his friends to the spot and apologise. When the other accused arrived in another vehicle, the woman reportedly got out of the car. The main accused allegedly threw her belongings onto the road before all the accused fled from the spot in both vehicles.
The victim later contacted another friend and informed him about the incident. She subsequently approached the Koregaon Park Police Station late at night and lodged a complaint.
Following the complaint, police recorded the woman’s statement and launched an investigation. By examining CCTV footage from pubs and nearby areas along the Koregaon Park-Mundhwa Road, police detained three suspects and seized the vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
