Warli Painting Workshop in Pune Aims to Boost Tribal Art and Artists

Shivajinagar, 18th May 2026: A Warli painting workshop has been organised in Pune to promote tribal artists and provide a platform to showcase the traditional art form of the Warli community, known for its unique and visually striking style.

The workshop has been organised by the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Pune, and will continue till May 21, 2026, at Yash Regency, 412-C, K. M. Munshi Road, Laxmi Society, Model Colony, Shivajinagar, Pune.

Warli painting, a traditional tribal art form originating from Maharashtra, has gained recognition not only across India but also at the international level for its distinctive visual appeal and cultural significance.

The workshop features participation from Warli painters belonging to Scheduled Tribe communities from Dahanu, Talasari and Palghar talukas of Palghar district, as well as Akole taluka of Ahilyanagar district.

According to officials, the initiative aims not only to encourage painters and tribal artists but also to create opportunities for entrepreneurs, businesspersons and investors in the art sector. Organisers said Warli art can be effectively used in branding and promotional activities for businesses and industries.

Manjiri Manolkar, Commissioner of the Tribal Research and Training Institute, Pune, appealed to entrepreneurs, professionals and art enthusiasts to visit the workshop and support tribal art and artists.
