Pune Lawyers to Stay Away from Work on Monday Demanding Lawyers Protection Act
Pune, 31st October 2025: To protest the increasing incidents of attacks on lawyers and to press for the implementation of the Lawyers Protection Act, the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, the apex body of advocates in the state, has called for a day-long boycott of work on Monday, November 3.
Lawyers across all courts in Pune district, including the Shivajinagar court, are expected to participate in the protest. As a result, regular court proceedings are likely to be affected on Monday.
In recent years, there has been a noticeable rise in cases of assault on lawyers. Expressing concern over the issue, the Bar Council has reiterated the need for the Lawyers Protection Act to safeguard members of the legal fraternity.
Following the council’s appeal, all lawyers in Pune city and district will remain away from work for a day, said Advocate Hemant Zanjad, President of the Pune Bar Council.
The decision has also received support from the Pune Family Court Lawyers Association. Its President, Advocate Kalpana Nikam, has urged members of her association to join the one-day strike in solidarity.
