Pune: Leopard Attack Injures 4-Year-Old in Khed Tehsil, Search Operation Launched
Khed, 26th November 2025: A four-year-old boy was injured in a leopard attack in Pune district’s Khed tehsil on Tuesday evening, triggering fresh concerns among local residents.
The incident occurred around 8.30 pm in the Nimgav area when the child, identified as Devansh Gawhane, was playing near his house. According to forest department officials, the leopard suddenly pounced on the boy, grabbed him by the neck and dragged him for a few metres before locals rushed to his rescue.
Devansh suffered injuries to his neck and face and was immediately taken to the government hospital in Khed, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Following the attack, forest officials have launched a search operation and increased patrolling in the region, which has witnessed multiple leopard sightings and attacks in recent weeks.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, especially during nighttime, as efforts continue to track and capture the leopard.
