Pune: Leopard Intrusion In Junnar Home Ends With Brave Sisters Scaring It Away

Junnar, 20th December 2024: A leopard unexpectedly entered a home in Junnar Taluka of Pune district. At the time, 20-year-old Riddhi and her 17-year-old sister Siddhi were alone in the house. The sisters managed to shoo away the leopard, earning widespread praise for their courage. The incident occurred on 18th December at 7 PM in the Manjarwadi area of Junnar Taluka.

Near the house of farmer Khandu Rakhma Khandagale, there is a large sugarcane field where leopards have been sighted frequently. On 18th December, Khandagale had gone to Narayangaon for work. His wife, Nayana, was outside feeding the cattle, while their younger daughter Siddhi was cooking and their elder daughter Riddhi was studying.

Suddenly, the leopard entered the house in search of food. Riddhi spotted it first and had a brief stare-off with the animal. Showing a remarkable presence of mind, she called her sister from the kitchen. The sisters began shouting, which scared the leopard and caused it to flee.

The Maharashtra Forest Department was informed, and officials arrived to install cages to capture the animal. Baits have also been set up to lure the leopard
