Pune : Liquor Sale Banned For Three Days During Ganesh Festival, Know Details

Pune 14th Sept 2023: The district collector of Pune Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has issued an order to ban liquor sale for three days during the Ganesh festival in the city. According to the official order, the liquor sale at shops in the district will remain prohibited on September 19 and 28 while the liquor sale will also remain prohibited on September 29 and 5th and 7th day of immersion on the routes in the Pune Municipal Corporation limits that will be used for the procession. The decision has been taken to maintain law and order during the festival season in the district, said officials.

In Pune district, shops involved in sale of liquor including those with FL-2, FL-3, CL-3, FLBR-2, Form-E, Form-E-2, and T.D-1 permits will remain closed following the district collector’s order as per Rule 142 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, said officials. The shops will remain closed on all routes of processions in the city and rural areas. The district administration has warned of action against those violating the order. “Violations of this order will result in strict action under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949, and the corresponding rules. This directive aims to ensure the peaceful observance of the Ganesh festival” the district collector said in a press release.

It may be noted that the Ganesh festival is celebrated in a grand manner in Pune and a huge crowd of visitors visit the city areas to enjoy the festival. The procession continues for the whole night on the last day of the festival and the police department and other agencies have to remain active to maintain the situation during this period.
