Pisoli, 29th June 2026: Pisoli has emerged as one of South Pune’s fastest-growing residential corridors. Over the past decade, the locality has witnessed the rapid development of apartment complexes, gated communities, and villas, attracting thousands of new residents. However, amid this growth lies an often-overlooked issue: many residents are unaware of which police station has jurisdiction over their homes.

This is not merely an administrative detail. During an emergency, approaching the wrong police station can delay the registration of complaints and the deployment of police resources.

Tehseen Teerandaz, a resident of Pisoli, said:
“On the morning of June 7, residents noticed a car that had been abandoned on a vacant plot for a couple of days. Concerned about security, we contacted the Police Emergency Helpline (112). Within a few minutes, we received a call from the Police Control Room, which confirmed our GPS location. A Beat Marshal from Kalepadal Police Station reached the spot promptly.

“After verifying the location, the officer courteously informed us that the spot fell under the jurisdiction of Yeolewadi Police Station and advised us to update the Control Room. The Police Control Room then redirected the case, following which a Beat Marshal from Yeolewadi Police Station arrived and resolved the issue.

“The incident highlighted that many residents are unaware of which police station has jurisdiction over their address. In our case, the matter was not an emergency, but if it had involved a serious crime or a medical emergency, even a few minutes of confusion could have been critical. Greater public awareness about police jurisdiction would help residents provide accurate location details and enable quicker assistance when every minute matters.”

Binoy Samuel, another resident of Pisoli, said, “With thousands of families moving into new housing societies, awareness about police jurisdiction has become essential. Every society should know its jurisdictional police station, Beat Officer, and emergency contact numbers. Displaying this information on society notice boards can make a significant difference during emergencies.”

Nitin Mane, a resident of the area, added, “Police patrolling has improved in recent years, but public awareness also needs to improve. Many residents still don’t know whether they fall under Kalepadal or Yeolewadi Police Station. A publicly available jurisdiction map would help avoid confusion and save valuable time.”

Dilip Lathi, a resident and community member, said, “As Pisoli continues to develop, public safety infrastructure should grow alongside residential expansion. Better coordination between housing societies and local police, along with clear jurisdiction information, will strengthen community policing and enhance residents’ confidence.”

Patrolling Builds Confidence
Visible police patrolling remains one of the strongest deterrents to crime.
Residents often assess policing by how frequently they see patrol vehicles or Beat Marshals in their neighbourhood. Regular patrols also help officers identify suspicious activities, abandoned vehicles, vulnerable locations, and recurring public safety concerns.

As Pisoli continues to expand, residents believe that increasing residential density should be matched by a proportionate police presence.
Routine interaction between police personnel and housing societies also strengthens public confidence and encourages residents to report suspicious activities without delay.

A Growing Population Deserves Better Awareness
One concern repeatedly raised by residents is not the availability of police services, but awareness.

Many new homebuyers, tenants, and even long-time residents cannot answer basic questions such as:
