Pune Lockdown: Now RT-PCR Negative Report Required To Enter PMC Area

Pune, 14th May 2021: Going a step ahead of the Maharashtra government’s additional restrictions, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued an order stating that any person entering its jurisdiction will be required to show a negative RT-PCR test report for Coronavirus disease (COVID19). The lockdown has been extended from May 15 to 7 am on June 1.

Today PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar issued an order about extending the current lockdown as well as about the additional restrictions which mean that anybody from Pune rural or PCMC also entering the PMC area will be asked to show RT-PCR negative report. (Editor’s Note: PMC has amended this order now and only those coming from other states will need RT-PCR negative report)

The guidelines are as follows: 

  • Current lockdown including complete shutdown on weekends (except milk selling) has been extended till 7 am on June 1
  • It is mandatory for all citizens who enter the Pune Municipal Corporation area by any means of transport to carry the Covid-19 Negative Certificate which will have to be issued from upto a maximum of 48 hours before the time of his/her entry into PMC area
  • All the restrictions that have been made applicable to persons arriving from places of ‘Sensitive Origins’ as per the orders dated 18th April and 1st May 2021 will be applicable to anyone arriving from any part of the country into the PMC area
  • No more than 2 persons (driver + cleaner/ helper) will be allowed to travel in the freight vehicle. If the vehicles carrying such goods are coming from outside the State, then the persons traveling in such vehicles are required to carry with them the Covid-19 Negative Certificate valid for 48 hours at the time of entry into the Pune Municipal Corporation area. This report will be valid for 7 days
  • Milk collection centres, milk transport and milk processing centres in the Pune Municipal Corporation area will continue without any restriction. Retail sale of milk from establishments and shops selling essential commodities as well as provision of home delivery services will be permitted as per the order issued earlier
  • Personnel engaged in Airport and Port services and needed for movement of cargo related to medicines or equipments needed for Covid management will be allowed to travel in local trains

As per the order, people found violating the guidelines will be prosecuted for offences under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act. 

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has also issued an order for extending the lockdown in the PCMC area. As per the order, RT-PCR report is only required for people coming from other states, not for anybody entering its jurisdiction.
