Pune : Lonavala Records Over 100 MM Rainfall In Last 24 Hours, IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Tomorrow

Pune 2nd Sept 2023: The city woke up to a heavy rainfall on Saturday morning as majority of areas witnessed a good rainfall after a long dry spell. This resulted in the increase of water levels in the dams. According to officials, Lonavala and Chinchwad were among the areas that recorded a very heavy rainfall in the last few hours.

According to IMD, 105 mm rainfall was recorded in Lonavala in the last 24 hours while 83.5 mm rainfall was reported in Chinchwad. Hadapsar and adjoining areas also received good rainfall as the IMD recorded 54 mm rain at Magarpatta. Tamhini Ghat received 35 mm rain while Lohegaon received 31.8 mm rain till 9 am today morning. The officials have claimed that the ghat sections are likely to receive heavy rain in the next couple of days.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted ‘thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30 to 40 kmph) at one or two places’ for Sunday and a yellow alert has been issued for the day.
