Pune: Pawana Dam Filled Upto 100% Of Its Capacity, Water Discharge Starts With 1,400 Cusecs
Pune 2nd Sept 2023: The main source of water for Pimpri Chinchwad city Pawana Dam has been filled upto 100% of its capacity and the authorities have started discharging water from the power generation plant into the river from today morning. According to the officials, 1,400 cusecs of water discharge will be started from the dam at 12 pm.
The citizens residing around Pawana river have been advised to not enter in the river basin and remove the animals and other things kept in it as the discharge is further likely to be increased considering the heavy rainfall being reported in the catchment areas today. The irrigation department has also urged citizens to take appropriate precautions.
Meanwhile, the irrigation department has also informed that the water discharge from Kasarsai Dam was also started today morning. According to officials, 400 Cusecs of water is being released into Kasarsai Nullah and a decision to further increase the discharge will be taken based on rainfall reported in the catchment areas.
