Pune: Luxury Bus Operators Overcharging In Festival Season, Congress Demands Action
Pune, 26th October 2023: During the festive season, private luxury bus operators have been regularly overcharging passengers, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
In response to this issue, the Regional Transport Office Pune (RTO Pune) and the Pune Traffic Police are being urged to deploy additional inspection teams to monitor and regulate these private luxury buses.
The Congress party has also voiced its concerns and demanded strict actions against those who violate the rules, directing their statement to Regional Transport Officer Sanjeev Bhor. Senior leader Mohan Joshi has played a pivotal role in presenting these demands on behalf of the Congress party.
The call for enhanced inspections comes in light of numerous accidents involving private buses on the Samriddhi Express Highway, resulting in casualties. The RTO emphasizes the need for a robust inspection process during the festive season to curb exploitative practices and protect the rights of passengers. Such measures will not only discourage bus operators from overcharging but also enable authorities to monitor the speed of private luxury buses more effectively.
