Chinchwad, 2nd December 2023: In a bid to address the escalating traffic congestion and rising accident rates in key areas of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), stringent measures have been put in place by the local authorities.

The affected regions, including industrial hubs like Chakan, Bhosari, Talegaon, and IT Park areas such as Hinjawadi, Talawade, and Chikahli, fall under the jurisdiction of PCPC. Dehu and Alandi regions, notable for their cultural significance, fall within the purview of the PCPC.

Pimpri Market has emerged as the largest market in the vicinity, catalyzing rapid development and growth in the city. The influx of citizens from various parts of the state and country, settling within the commissionerate for livelihood, has contributed to the bustling atmosphere. Citizens, predominantly opting for luxury travel buses for journeys to their hometowns, have further intensified the traffic situation.

Luxury travel buses operating from Nigdi, Talawade, and Bhosari within the commissionerate limits have been identified as major contributors to traffic congestion. Stops at Pavle Bridge, Khandoba Mal, Chinchwad, Bijli Nagar, Chintamani Chowk, Ahimsa Chowk, Chaphekar Chowk, Thergaon, Birla Hospital, Dange Chowk, and Kalewadi have been causing a steady increase in traffic snarls and accidents. To counter this issue, authorities have prohibited these luxury buses from taking on passengers within the commissionerate limits after departing from their origin points.

To streamline and regulate the flow of traffic, specific pick-up and drop points have been designated by the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Branch. Bhakti Shakti Circle in Nigdi, Tower Line in Talawade, Rupinagar’s Gavjatra Maidan, and Bhosari’s Babar Petrol Pump and Landewadi have been identified as fixed points for these luxury buses. Strict action, including penalties, will be enforced against bus drivers, owners, and booking agents who violate these regulations.
