Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th June 2026: A blanket purchased from a fair near a temple in Pimpri Chinchwad was found carrying a “Made in Pakistan” label, prompting police to launch an investigation into its origin and sale after a woman who purchased it flagged the issue.

The incident came to light in the Chinchwad area, where a woman had bought the blanket from a stall at the Sankashti Chaturthi fair held near the Morya Gosavi Temple. According to reports, nothing appeared unusual at the time of purchase. However, when she later washed the blanket at home, she noticed a tag stating that it was manufactured in Pakistan.

Shocked by the discovery, the woman recorded a video and shared it on social media. In the video, she questioned how a product allegedly made in Pakistan could be sold in a local market in Maharashtra. The video quickly went viral, drawing the attention of authorities.

Following the circulation of the video, Pimpri Chinchwad police initiated an inquiry and formed a special team to trace the source of the blanket and identify the vendor who sold it at the fair. Police have also written to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, urging action against unauthorised traders found selling such products.

According to reports, the blanket was purchased on Wednesday during the Sankashti Chaturthi fair, which had witnessed a large turnout of devotees.

The development comes days after three persons were arrested in Maharashtra’s Sambhajinagar district for allegedly selling cosmetic products bearing “Made in Pakistan” labels.

Police are now investigating the blanket’s supply chain, its supplier, and whether a larger distribution network is involved. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, officials said.
