Shirur, 7th March 2025: Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal has launched a scathing attack on the state government, likening its administration to that of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. “The Maharashtra Government is blind and deaf, and its governance can be compared to Aurangzeb’s rule,” Sapkal said while speaking to reporters in Shirur. He emphasized that ethics are lacking in the current governance and that the public should protest against such policies.

Sapkal highlighted the rise of casteism, discrimination, and hatred, stating that these issues need to be addressed. He advocated for harmony as the solution, announcing that the Congress will launch a ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ from Beed on 8th March to promote unity. The yatra aims to foster social cohesion and will conclude with a gathering in Beed on 9th March.

Sapkal also criticized the government for allegedly protecting those who insult historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, citing instances where actors and writers have made derogatory comments without facing consequences. He noted that the government’s approach seems to encourage disrespect towards icons by offering protection and awards to those who defame them, citing the example of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the late Indian politician and activist.
