Pimpri Chinchwad, 17th January 2025: Maharashtra’s School Education Minister, Dada Bhuse, conducted an unexpected inspection of a Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) school today, catching teachers off guard and engaging students in impromptu academic discussions. Despite the surprise visit, the school’s operations managed to impress Minister Bhuse, PCMC officials told Punekar News.
Bhuse spent over 20 minutes at the PCMC school in Pimple Nilakh, where he interacted with students and quizzed them on their textbook knowledge. The surprise visit was part of his Pune district tour and aimed to assess the quality of education in municipal schools.
During his visit, the minister asked students various questions from their textbooks, to which they responded enthusiastically. The unannounced inspection caused a stir among the school’s teaching staff, who were unprepared for the high-profile visit. Tushar Kamthe, the Pimpri Chinchwad City President of the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), was also present during the minister’s visit. Officials from PCMC’s Education Department joined later as the visit was entirely unexpected. Bhuse tested students’ proficiency in languages, observed lessons conducted on smart TVs, and assessed the quality of the midday meals.
Assistant Commissioner Vijay Kumar Thorat, in charge of the PCMC Education Department, told Punekar News, “The visit was a total surprise. Despite this, he was satisfied. He assessed the running of the school, the teaching, and the midday meals too. He also appreciated the school’s efforts.”
The surprise inspection is seen as an effort to improve the standards of municipal schools and change parents’ perceptions of these institutions. Education experts hope that such unexpected visits by the minister will not only enhance the quality of education but also keep teachers vigilant.
