Pune, 23rd December 2021: Against the background of threat of Omicron variant of Coronavirus, Maharashtra government has put curbs large gatherings for Christmas celebrations. Accordingly, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued an order in this regard today.

The following guidelines have been given in this regard:

1. This year Christmas should be celebrated in a simple way.

2. Follow government guidelines for the prevention of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) like wearing a mask, maintaining social distance.

3. People will be allowed to attend celebrations up to 50% of the available seating capacity in the church for Christmas. Special care should be taken to ensure that the church is not crowded in any way and that social distancing is maintained and that masks and sanitizers are used. There should also be arrangements for sanitisation in the church.

4. Scenes from the life of the Lord Jesus, a Christmas tree or other objects are kept in the church on Christmas day. Appropriate measures should be taken to follow the rules of cleanliness.

5. There should be a minimum number of choristers to sing the praises of the Lord Jesus.

6. No shops or stalls outside the church premises.

7. Avoid large gatherings or crowds in public places or on the streets.

8. No religious/cultural events or processions should be organized which will attract the crowd in any way.

9. Fireworks should not be allowed. Strict adherence to rules and regulations regarding noise pollution.
