13 Omicron COVID Cases Reported In Pune District Today Out Of 23 In Maharashtra

Pune, 23rd December 2021: A total of 23 new cases of Omicron have been reported in Maharashtra today. Among them, 22 cases were reported by the National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune and one case has been reported by National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) Pune. 

These 23 cases are as below: 

Pune-13 (PMC and Pune Rural 3 cases each, PCMC-7)  

Mumbai – 5 

Osmanabad-2 

Thane, Nagpur and Mira- Bhayandar 1 case each 

Till date, a total of 88 patients infected with the Omicron variant have been reported in the Maharashtra state. Out of these, 42 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test. 

 Additional information of 23 Omicron Cases reported today 

  • Out of these, 16 had international travelled history and 7 patients are their high risk contacts. 
  • Travel History: Middle East countries- 6 Europe-4 Ghana and South Africa- 2 patients each Singapore and Tanzania- 1 patient each 
  • There are 4 kids under 18 years of age and two patients are above 60 years of age. 
  • Severity of Disease: Asymptomatic –17 Mild-6 
  • Vaccination: Out of these patients, 18 patients have been completely vaccinated, one patient is unvaccinated and 4 are not eligible for vaccination.

COVID Cases in Maharashtra 

  • 615 patients discharged today
  • 65,00,375 COVID-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today
  • Recovery rate in the state is 97.7% 
  • 1179 new cases in the state today
  •  17 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate is the state is 2.12%.
  • Out of 6,81,17,319 laboratory samples 66,53,345 have been tested positive (9.77%) for COVID19 until today.
  •  Currently, 76,373 people are in home quarantine and 899 people are in institutional quarantine.
