Pune: Maharashtra Government Sanctions Rs 80 Crores For Junnar’s Thrilling ‘Leopard Safari’ Venture

Junnar, 28th July 2023: The ambitious “Leopard Safari” project is all set to take place within Junnar taluka as the Maharashtra state government has granted approval and allocated 650 acres of land for the venture. Former MLA, Sharad Sonwane, revealed that a substantial fund of Rs 80 crores has been sanctioned for this initiative.

Sonwane made these significant announcements during a press conference held at the government rest house in Junnar today. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar for their special efforts in securing funds and approvals for various developmental projects aimed at the progress of Junnar city and taluka.

Sonwane mentioned that a private agency has conducted a survey of the Darya Ghat in the tribal areas, following which the project report is being prepared by the government. Moreover, the state government has already allocated a substantial fund of Rs 118 crores for multiple development endeavors in historic Junnar. Out of this, approximately Rs 100 crores have been allocated for ongoing and upcoming development works, which will commence shortly.

He further disclosed that Rs 21 crores have been approved to ensure a water supply to the citizens of Junnar city from Manikdoh dam through a closed channel. Various developmental projects, including road concreting, Sabha Mandap Samaj Temple, closed gutters, footpaths, drain construction, water purification project, protective walls, street lights, and Dashakriya Ghat beautification, have also received substantial funding.
Additionally, a notable underground gutter scheme project worth 39 crores has been approved for Junnar city under the Nagrotthan Yojana. The plan involves purifying impure water and releasing it into the river basin through the ATP project.

Despite the abundance of water in the taluka, Sonwane highlighted that some areas still face drought-like conditions due to inadequate planning in previous years. However, with these recent approvals and funds, Junnar is poised to become an attractive tourist destination, fostering growth and development in the region.
