Pune: Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) Marks Silver Jubilee; CM Fadnavis Urges AI-Ready Generation
Baner, 20th August 2025: Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) marked its Silver Jubilee Foundation Day at Bantara Bhavan, Baner, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urging the creation of a new generation capable of adapting to rapid technological shifts led by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Fadnavis emphasized that AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors are emerging sectors demanding highly skilled manpower. “Data has become the world’s wealth, and Maharashtra, being the Data Center Capital of India with nearly 60% of the nation’s capacity, must seize this opportunity. MKCL should ensure knowledge and digital literacy reach every citizen,” he said, assuring full state support for MKCL’s innovation-driven initiatives.
The CM lauded MKCL’s 25-year contribution in promoting transparency, efficiency, and digital access. He also inaugurated ‘Marathi Sahitya Srushti’, a digital repository of 50,000 Marathi books, and released ‘Pranjalache Aarase’, authored by Dr. Anil Kakodkar.
Leaders Stress Knowledge & Innovation
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar praised MKCL for bridging the digital divide, stressing that “technology, skills, and innovation must combine to convert India’s vast population into productive human capital.” He announced state support for a technology research institute and urged MKCL to focus on AI, machine learning, blockchain, and data science.
IT Minister Ashish Shelar noted MKCL’s role in training over 20 million learners, calling its partnership vital as governance transitions from e-governance to AI governance. He confirmed plans for an advanced IT research institute in collaboration with MKCL.
MKCL Chairman Dr. Anil Kakodkar underlined the need to empower rural youth through AI, reduce inequalities, and link research with industry to drive India’s technological and economic progress.

‘Unified Credit Interface’ app, simplifying credit transfers across courses under the new National Education Policy (NEP).
Plans for mobile digital labs and simple apps to spread digital literacy in rural Maharashtra.
Since its inception, over 6,300 entrepreneurs have partnered with MKCL, building an extensive digital network across the state. The Silver Jubilee event reinforced MKCL’s mission of empowering society with inclusive knowledge, innovation, and technology for a future-ready Maharashtra.
