Pune, 20th February 2023: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will commence the 12th-grade board exams from tomorrow. The State Board has reported a record student enrollment this year, with 14 lakh 57 thousand 283 students appearing for the exam across 3 thousand 195 main centers. The exams are scheduled to take place from February 21 to March 21.

At a press conference, Board President Sharad Gosavi discussed the exam’s preparation with Board Secretary Anuradha Oak.

A high-level meeting was held for the first time to implement the copy-free campaign. Instead of providing ten minutes for students to understand the question paper before the scheduled time, ten minutes will be given at the end of the exam, in line with CBSE’s 20-minute early provision. After receiving 238 recommendations for the anti-copying initiative, the decision was made to provide extra time at the end of the exam.

To prevent cheating, flying squads at the Divisional and District level and a static team will be present at each examination centre. Photocopy shops located within 100 meters of the examination centre premises will be closed. CCTV cameras have also been made mandatory at new centres.

Despite a strike by non-teaching staff of higher education, practical exams for 12th-grade students have been completed. Gosavi stated that practical exams are available after the end of the written exam on March 21 if any student still has the practical exam pending.
