Shivajinagar, 14th October 2023: Major changes are coming to the traffic routes in the Deccan Gymkhana area, as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) kicks off its project to lay a rain channel between PMPML bus stand and Bhide Bridge. The project, which starts on Monday, October 16, will continue until December 15 and could result in road closures, affecting daily commuters and local residents.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Vijay Kumar Magar, has announced that traffic from Bhide Bridge to Deccan area may be closed if necessary. Magar has appealed to motorists to take alternative routes to mitigate the impact of the work on the city’s traffic system.

Motorists going to Deccan area via Kelkar Road are advised to instead use Gadgil Bridge (Z bridge) where possible.

The construction project commences on October 16, with the end date set for December 15. During this two-month period, commuters and residents in the affected areas are urged to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid delays.

This project marks an important infrastructure development aimed at better rainwater management. However, its immediate impact necessitates effective traffic management and public cooperation for smooth daily operations.
